3 Things with Greer Klepacki
Portland has an amazing sustainability community, and we want to highlight the people and work that shape our unique city. We’re sharing their answers to questions we posed.
Meet Greer Klepacki, Policy and Advocacy Manager at Community Energy Project, where they works to advance equitable energy and housing policy rooted in long-term sustainability. With a focus on centering those most impacted by climate and housing challenges, Greer brings adaptability, thoughtfulness, and resourcefulness to their work, shaped in part by his time during Oregon’s 2025 legislative session.
Now, we’ll hand it over to Greer to share their perspective on advancing sustainability through policy and community-centered advocacy!
1. What does sustainable mean to you?
Sustainable means something that can continue in the face of things like adversity, hardship or challenges while not sacrificing the well-being of the people most impacted by the issue. I think of this in terms of every step of projects and ideas. Sustainability allows for long-term success and the health of both projects and people.
2. Name a Portland (or Oregon) project or collaboration that has inspired you, and tell us why you are inspired by it.
Working in the long session of 2025 has inspired me because there was never a dull moment! Every day was a new way to grow and challenge myself, which is something that I am always trying to do in my daily life. It has inspired me to be adaptable, thoughtful, patient and resourceful.
3. What can Portland (or Oregon) be doing better to be more sustainable?
Portland can be more sustainable by continuing to center those most impacted and vulnerable to issues that specific projects are working on. The phrase, 'nothing about us without us' will always ring true and bring the most success to projects.
