3 Things with Corey Squire

Portland has an amazing sustainability community, and we want to highlight the people and work that shape our unique city. We’re sharing their answers to questions we posed.

Corey Squire is the sustainability director at Bora Architecture & Interiors.  He believes that architecture has the potential to solve major societal problems, but only if we choose to design in the right way.

Now, we’ll hand it over to Corey to share their perspective on sustainability, Portland’s future, and the projects and collaborations that inspire them.

1. What does sustainable mean to you?

Design that delivers its potential to do good.

2. Name a Portland (or Oregon) project or collaboration that has inspired you, and tell us why you are inspired by it.

The Holgate Library, Volta Studio, and Legin Commons are all examples of what sustainable design could look like if you get all the big and little moves right. Beautiful, comfortable, efficient, affordable, and people love it.

3. What can Portland (or Oregon) be doing better to be more sustainable?

More trees, less parking
